PLI Celebrates 20 Years in Business

Phoenix Logistics, Inc. was organized by founder and current president Ray Bellefeuille in 1987 to provide microwave interconnect consulting services to companies such as Andrew Corporation, Raychem Corporation, and Rogers Corporation. PLI incorporated and commenced production operations in 1991 with the specific focus of solving customers’ unique interconnect problems. Phoenix Logistics acquired Raychem Corporation’s RF Cable Assembly product line, including all the associated microwave cable manufacturing equipment, in 1992 and began to manufacture connectors and raw coaxial cable and the related microwave cable assemblies.

That same year Phoenix Logistics entered the MIL-STD-1553B Data Bus market, providing Data Bus products (cable, couplers, harnesses, terminators, connectors, and splice kits) to most of the industry’s prime defense contractors including: Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Bell Helicopter, and McDonnell Douglas. In addition to the major primes, Phoenix Logistics also provided Data Bus products directly to the US Navy, and US Air Force.
In 1996 Phoenix Logistics entered the demanding space market when Boeing approached the company to become a source for data bus couplers for the International Space Station. Phoenix Logistics supported both manned and unmanned space programs with a highly qualified team providing complete design services and assembly of customers’ components. Since then Phoenix Logistics has had extensive experience working with NASA and other space companies on a multitude of satellites and other spacecraft.

Phoenix Logistics achieved a significant industry milestone in 2000 by becoming ISO9001 certified and then went on to become AS-9100 certified in 2003. Throughout its history Phoenix Logistics has won various supplier quality awards and enjoys high quality ratings and an excellent reputation with all of its customers.

In 2004 the company began the transition from an entrepreneurial style organization driven solely by its founder to a mature and sustainable, process-based organization driven by a talented and experienced executive team. Phoenix Logistics relocated to a modern 19,000 square foot facility in Tempe, Arizona during the first half of 2005. The current facility houses the company’s Data Bus, Microwave Cable Assemblies, RF Connector, and Space Program assembly operations. In addition the facilities include a prototyping machine shop, full test and partial qualification facilities, complete engineering capabilities, and lab space capable of achieving 100K clean room status.
